Whitney Rose and Justin Rose are reportedly spending much of their lives apart after 16 years of marriage, raising new questions about the future of one of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s most familiar couples.

PEOPLE reported that an insider close to the pair described the situation as a gradual breakdown rather than the result of one explosive incident. The source said financial strain contributed heavily to the distance after years of career changes, business setbacks and pressure that had already become part of their television story.

Neither Whitney nor Justin has publicly announced a divorce or provided a detailed account of their current relationship. They married in 2009 and share two children, daughter Bobbie, 16, and son Brooks, 13, while Justin has three sons from his previous marriage.

The insider said the couple is trying to move forward respectfully, keep tensions low, and make their children the priority as they determine what comes next.

Financial Strain Became a Major Source of Pressure

Money problems had been visible long before reports emerged that Whitney and Justin were living separate lives. During Season 6 of RHOSLC, Whitney revealed that a business venture involving Wild Rose Beauty had failed after the couple committed significant resources to it.

She told her castmates that they had gone “all in” and said she was forced to dismiss 30 employees when the venture collapsed.

Whitney later described the failure as a devastating six-figure loss, while discussions on the show reflected the wider financial damage caused by the attempted expansion.

The business had been merged with another entity as part of an effort to grow, but Whitney eventually fought to recover her brand name, inventory and control of the company. She later reclaimed full ownership and relaunched Wild Rose Beauty, giving the brand another chance after a painful professional setback.

The money loss also exposed disagreements over strategy and trust inside the marriage. Whitney said she had accepted a direct-to-consumer approach after Justin and others presented figures that convinced her it could succeed, even though she had initially wanted a different path.

In one emotional conversation, she made clear that her frustration was tied to feeling unsupported and questioning choices she had made because she trusted her husband.

Their Marriage Problems Were Already Visible on RHOSLC

Whitney and Justin’s marriage has been part of RHOSLC since the series began in 2020. Viewers watched them discuss intimacy, parenting, career disruption, and the challenge of communicating while their public and professional lives changed.

Their scenes often showed genuine affection, but they also revealed how easily financial and emotional stress could follow them home.

Justin’s job loss created another difficult adjustment for the family. Whitney said the change affected her deeply and altered the balance of responsibility as she became more focused on earning income through television and her businesses.

Justin spent more time at home with their children during that period, but the shift also forced the couple to rethink roles that had shaped their marriage for years.

At the Season 6 reunion, Whitney said she and Justin were continuing to work on communication. She said she did not resent him, although she acknowledged that the aftermath of their business failure had been hard. Her comments suggested they were still trying to repair the relationship, even as the financial and emotional strain remained unresolved.

A Long Relationship Faced Public Scrutiny

Whitney and Justin met through work when both were married to other people. They left those relationships, married in 2009, and later spoke openly about the criticism surrounding the beginning of their romance. Their history became part of Whitney’s introduction on RHOSLC, where she made clear that she believed the life they built was worth the judgment they endured.

The couple renewed their vows during the series premiere while celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary. That ceremony presented them as a pair that had survived an unconventional beginning and years of outside doubt. It also established Justin as a central figure in Whitney’s story rather than a spouse who remained outside the show.

Whitney marked their 16th anniversary in November 2025 with an affectionate Instagram tribute. She reflected on what they had survived together and thanked Justin for helping create their life. The message now stands beside a very different report months later, although it does not reveal when the relationship changed or how quickly the distance developed.

Public anniversary messages can capture how a couple feels at a particular moment without revealing every private difficulty. Whitney’s tribute therefore does not disprove the later report, just as the report does not explain every stage of the marriage’s decline. Without direct statements from both spouses, assigning one precise turning point would amount to speculation.

Their Children Remain the Central Concern

The couple’s two children have grown up with parts of their family life appearing on television. Bobbie and Brooks have been seen during family conversations, celebrations and difficult periods, making the reported separation more than a storyline involving two reality personalities.

Justin’s three sons from his earlier marriage also remain part of the wider family the couple has built over the past 16 years.

The insider cited by PEOPLE said Whitney and Justin are focused on keeping the situation peaceful and protecting their children from unnecessary conflict.

No confirmed information has been released about custody arrangements, separate residences, property disputes or a divorce filing. Claims about those matters would therefore go beyond what either spouse has said publicly and what has been reliably reported.

Questions will also follow about whether the relationship trouble appears in a future season of RHOSLC. The show has documented major problems in their marriage before, especially the business failure and the disagreements that followed it. Any television coverage, however, would reflect only what cameras captured and would not replace a direct account from Whitney or Justin.

For now, the most responsible conclusion is also the simplest one. Whitney and Justin are reportedly living largely separate lives after a long period of financial and marital strain, but they have not publicly declared their marriage over.

Until either spouse speaks directly, further claims about divorce, custody, or the final cause of their separation should be treated as unconfirmed.
