The child, identified only as Patricia, was attacked around 12:30 p.m. on June 27 near the intersection of Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. Her grandmother, Monica Edmiston, said the animals tore off part of Patricia’s scalp and left her body covered in wounds.
Edmiston quickly set up a GoFundMe page to help cover medical costs and other expenses tied to Patricia’s recovery. The campaign has already brought in more than $4,100, well past its initial $3,000 target.
Grandmother Describes Extent of Injuries
In her fundraiser post, Edmiston did not hold back in detailing how brutal the attack was. She wrote that the dogs left Patricia with numerous wounds across her body in addition to the scalp injury. Despite the severity of what happened, Edmiston described her granddaughter as remarkably tough.
