Rapper Sexyy Red has filed a lawsuit against her former security guard, accusing him of being responsible for a burglary that wiped out more than $500,000 worth of jewelry and designer handbags from a rented Florida mansion where she had organized a birthday retreat for her mother.

The incident, which allegedly took place in January 2025, has since snowballed into a full-blown legal dispute between the St. Louis-born rapper and her former hire.

Court documents from the filed lawsuit lay out a series of allegations that point to negligence by the security personnel tasked with keeping the property and its contents safe.

According to the lawsuit, Sexyy Red rented a mansion in Florida to host a birthday celebration for her mother, gathering family and loved ones for what was intended to be a private getaway.

The event, meant to be a joyous occasion, turned into a nightmare when a masked intruder gained access to the property through an unlocked door on January 12, 2025.

The rapper contends that the security team she hired to manage the premises’ safety and security during the festivities failed in that duty.

The lawsuit details an extensive list of stolen valuables, including necklaces, charms, rings, bracelets, watches, and luxury designer handbags, with a total value of at least $500,000.

A police investigation was subsequently launched, and authorities determined that a door at the property had been left unlocked during the break-in. Sexyy Red argues that this unlocked entry point was a direct result of her security team’s negligence.

The rapper specifically names Carl Thompson, the man she says led her security team, as the central figure in her complaint. She claims Thompson was the last person to leave the property before the burglar made entry, and holds him responsible for failing to secure the premises before departing.

In her suit, she seeks damages exceeding $500,000 to compensate for the full value of the stolen items.

Thompson Fired the First Legal Shot

The legal battle between Sexyy Red and Carl Thompson did not actually begin with her lawsuit. Thompson had already taken legal action against the rapper back in August 2025, filing his own suit over an alleged pay dispute stemming from his time as her personal security guard.

According to his complaint, he was hired in May 2023 to serve as Sexyy Red’s personal security detail at an agreed annual rate of $180,000 and continued working in that capacity until December 2024.

Thompson claimed in his filing that he was paid a total of $204,000 over the course of his employment, but argued that the full amount owed to him was $285,000, leaving him with an unpaid balance he sought to recover through the courts.

His lawsuit was filed before the rapper went public with her own allegations against him, making the current back-and-forth between the two parties a legal counterpunch situation. Sexyy Red denies his claims of underpayment entirely and has used her countersuit to redirect accountability squarely onto Thompson.

Sexyy Red Pushes Back With a Counterclaim

Rather than settling Thompson’s wage dispute quietly, Sexyy Red chose to fight back with a countersuit that reframes the entire narrative around the Florida burglary.

Her legal team argues that whatever payments Thompson received or did not receive are secondary to the larger issue of his alleged negligence on the night of the break-in.

By tying his professional failure to the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of personal property, she has escalated what began as a wage claim into a significantly more complex legal confrontation.

The counterclaim signals that Sexyy Red is unwilling to bear the financial and reputational fallout of the incident without seeking accountability from those she believes are responsible.

The case places Thompson in the difficult position of defending both his compensation claims and his conduct as a security professional during the event. Both sides now find themselves entangled in litigation that could drag on for months before any resolution is reached.

Where the Case Stands Now

As of this report, the case remains ongoing, with no settlement announced between the two parties.

Sexyy Red is seeking a judgment of over $500,000 in damages tied to the stolen valuables, while Thompson’s wage dispute suit continues to run alongside her countersuit.

The dual legal proceedings create a complicated court situation in which each party is simultaneously a plaintiff and a defendant in related but distinct claims.

The outcome of the case could hinge heavily on what investigators and the court determine about the circumstances surrounding the unlocked door and Thompson’s precise movements and responsibilities on the night of January 12.

Whether Thompson can successfully prove his wage claims while also deflecting Sexyy Red’s burglary-related allegations remains to be seen.

For now, the rapper and her former security guard remain on opposite sides of a courtroom battle that began as a birthday celebration and has since become one of the more unusual legal disputes in recent celebrity news.
