Times Square is about to get a major dose of Southern comfort food.

The restaurant will occupy a roughly 10,000-square-foot space at 7 Times Square, at the intersection of 42nd Street, Broadway, and Seventh Avenue. The location previously housed Pink Taco.

Southern Comfort Food Comes to Times Square

Signature offerings include crispy fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and Jamaican jerk lamb chops. The restaurant’s own description also highlights blackened shrimp and grits served with lobster tail.

That gives the new restaurant a menu built around recognizable comfort-food classics, with more elaborate presentations and ingredients.

A Big Space in a Very Busy Location

The Times Square location was announced as a 10,000-square-foot space, making it one of the brand’s largest and most prominent locations.

Its position at 7 Times Square puts it close to Broadway theaters, Bryant Park, and the Times Square–42nd Street subway station. That makes the restaurant particularly accessible to both New Yorkers and visitors spending time in Midtown.

The Restaurant’s Story Started at Home

According to the company, Kelley was born in Arkansas and raised in Texas. He learned to cook alongside his grandmother beginning at age seven, and that family connection became part of the philosophy behind the restaurant brand.

The first Kitchen + Kocktails opened in Dallas in 2020. The company has since expanded to multiple cities across the United States, with the Times Square restaurant becoming its New York City debut.

More Than Just a Restaurant

The restaurant says its locations feature a distinctive rose wall, live music, handcrafted cocktails, and a lively dining atmosphere. Those elements are expected to be part of the New York location, too.

That approach fits the Times Square restaurant scene, where large spaces often compete by offering diners more than a conventional meal.

Opening October 3

Reservations for the restaurant have opened through the brand’s New York location, giving diners a chance to plan for the opening.

The arrival also adds another large-scale restaurant to a Times Square dining scene already filled with high-profile destinations. But Kitchen + Kocktails is bringing something distinctive to the neighborhood: a restaurant built around Southern comfort food, cocktails, music, and a large, highly visible space.

For anyone who enjoys fried chicken, shrimp and grits, Southern-inspired dishes, and a more theatrical night out, the new restaurant will soon provide another option right in the heart of Times Square.
