Barron Trump Under Fire as Consumers Slam the ‘Absurd’ Price of His Energy Drink

Barron Trump has kept a lower public profile than most members of his famous family, but his name is now attached to a product that has dragged him straight into the consumer spotlight. His reported involvement with SOLLOS, a yerba mate-based energy drink brand, has sparked a wave of online criticism after shoppers noticed the price: $39 for a 12-pack.

That works out to more than $3 per can before taxes, shipping, or any extra costs. For a premium beverage, that may not sound unusual to some shoppers. For Americans already tired of expensive groceries, high rent, costly gas, and shrinking paychecks, it landed like another tone-deaf luxury product dressed up as a lifestyle essential.

The price tag became the story

SOLLOS is not being marketed like a cheap corner-store energy drink. It leans into a sunny South Florida identity, with pineapple and coconut flavoring, organic Brazilian yerba mate, cane sugar, raw honey, monk fruit extract, and 120 mg of caffeine per can. On paper, that puts it closer to the trendy wellness-drink shelf than the bargain cooler at a gas station.

Still, consumers are not reacting only to the ingredients. They are reacting to the timing. A $39 drink pack arriving during a period of household financial pressure was always going to invite side-eyes.

Many Americans are comparing prices more carefully, skipping extras, trading down to store brands, and treating every “small” purchase like part of a bigger survival math problem. That is why the backlash feels bigger than one beverage.

People are tired of being sold premium lifestyles when their real lives feel more expensive every month. A drink can be clean, stylish, and carefully branded, but if shoppers feel priced out before they taste it, the product starts with a public relations problem.

Barron Trump’s involvement adds a political and cultural charge that most beverage startups never face. Another young founder might get mocked for high pricing, then move on. Barron carries a last name that guarantees attention, praise, suspicion, and criticism before the first can is even opened.

That spotlight cuts both ways. The Trump name can create instant curiosity, media coverage, and brand recognition that most startups would spend years building. It can also turn a simple pricing complaint into a broader argument about privilege, family branding, and whether celebrity-connected products truly understand ordinary consumers.

Some critics see the drink as another example of fame being converted into a product. Supporters may argue that Barron is simply entering business as many young entrepreneurs do. Either way, the public response proves one thing clearly: when your name is Trump, even a canned drink does not enter the market quietly.

Consumers are judging more than the caffeine

The energy drink market is crowded, aggressive, and full of brands fighting for shelf space. Shoppers already have countless choices, from classic energy drinks to sparkling teas, mushroom coffees, electrolyte drinks, and cheaper caffeine options. SOLLOS now has to convince people that its flavor, ingredients, image, and story are worth the premium.

That is the harder battle. A celebrity-linked launch can win attention, but repeat customers need a stronger reason to keep buying. If the drink tastes great, feels different, and connects with its target audience, the backlash may fade into launch noise. If shoppers see it as overpriced branding in a pretty can, the criticism could stick.

Barron Trump may not speak much in public, but this product is speaking for him. Right now, consumers are hearing a $39 message at a time when many want relief, not another reminder that even caffeine can carry a luxury price tag.
