The debut took place on Saturday, Sept. 19, and featured a vintage Yves Saint Laurent gown, a guest list full of famous names, and a storyline fashion fans found hard to resist.
The plot twist is what makes this pairing so entertaining. In October 2025, Roach was asked what he thought about Skims’ faux pubic hair thong, and his carefully worded reply was shared widely online, as BuzzFeed and others reported.

George Lucas hosted the gala at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, and Roach put Kardashian in an archival black-and-gold floral sequin gown from Yves Saint Laurent’s fall/winter 2004 runway, according to Complex.
The dress, which has a keyhole cutout, dates to the period when Tom Ford led the house, and Roach finished the look with gold heels and a sleek bun. IBTimes UK reports that she added Oscar Heyman earrings and a Zydo ring.
After the event, Roach reposted an image of the look with a short caption that read “New client” and a heart emoji, per Complex, and that was the entire announcement.
Kardashian, 45, was not the only person in Saint Laurent that night. Her boyfriend, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, wore a black Saint Laurent suit from the Anthony Vaccarello era, and Complex says he arrived separately.
Just Jared reports that the two attended the same event but did not pose for photos together. Kris Jenner joined them later in the evening, and the guest list also included Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, Kerry Washington, Michael B. Jordan, Eva Longoria, Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern. The Lucas Museum opens to the public on Sept. 22, according to IBTimes UK, and Hamilton served as an opening night co-chair.
The gala timing was busy for Kardashian. IBTimes UK reports that she and Hamilton flew in from London, where she had been celebrating the launch of her Skims flagship store on Regent Street.
Just Jared adds that the couple had been spotted riding Lime bikes in London the day before the gala. So in a few days, Kardashian opened a store in one country and walked a museum red carpet in another, with a brand-new stylist behind the look.
Neither Kardashian nor Roach has said how long the arrangement will last or what it includes beyond the gala outfit.

According to People, the $32 product features a mix of curly and straight faux hair in 12 shade variations, and the brand promoted it on Instagram with a campaign video parodying 1970s game shows.
The caption called it “The Ultimate Bush” and invited customers to make their carpet whatever color they wanted. Skims described it as its “most daring panty yet,” and AOL reported that it sold out within a day, with customers able to sign up for restock alerts.
Reactions were split. Many fans expressed confusion, with one commenter writing “Who asked for this???” while others praised the marketing and called it camp. Kardashian herself seemed happy with the attention.
She told E! News at the Oct. 16 premiere of her show All’s Fair that the team had been “laughing and talking about it all day long,” as USA Today reported. In the whirlwind, Roach was asked about the launch in an interview that quickly became a viral moment.
Roach did not insult anyone, and that was the point. BuzzFeed reports that he began by calling the Kardashians “nice people” who understand pop culture.
According to a Fizzy Mag account of the interview, he then said he thinks they are “trying to figure out what it is that they want to say in fashion.”
He also told Entertainment Tonight, “We are all waiting to buy something from them,” and added that maybe they haven’t invented it yet, but he truly believes people will buy it when they do.

Roach hasn’t shared what he thinks now, and no one has connected the old interview to the new working relationship in any official statement.
What can be said is simply that the stylist who was asked about a faux hair thong in October 2025 was styling that thong’s creator in a museum gala look by September 2026. Anything more than that would be guesswork, and the timeline speaks for itself.

His return has clearly gone well, since the roster now stretches from red carpet regulars to a Formula 1 champion. Adding Kardashian to that lineup gives him one of the most photographed people in the world, and it gives her a stylist with a long record of making archival fashion the center of a big night.
