According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has formally declined to pursue criminal charges against the former “Rap City” host, closing out the criminal side of a saga that began with a June arrest and a wave of headlines across entertainment and local news outlets.
The decision not to prosecute does not erase the very public and detailed allegations that first brought the case into the spotlight, nor does it resolve every legal matter connected to the broader dispute between Big Tigger and Brown.
It does, however, mark a major development for the veteran broadcaster, whose legal name is Darian Morgan, as he continues navigating both the fallout from his arrest and his return to public life after stepping away from his radio show earlier this year.
Prosecutors Decline to Pursue Criminal Charges Against Big Tigger
Court documents obtained by TMZ confirm that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case stemming from Big Tigger’s June 20 arrest and ultimately decided not to prosecute the charges he faced.
Those charges, according to earlier reporting from TMZ, Fox 5 Atlanta, and Atlanta News First, included aggravated battery and third-degree cruelty to children, stemming from an incident investigators say occurred in May 2026 inside the home Big Tigger shared with Brown and their children.
Big Tigger was booked into the Fulton County Jail on the morning of June 20 and released later that same day after posting surety bonds totaling roughly $10,000, split between a $9,000 bond tied to the aggravated battery charge and a $1,000 bond connected to the child cruelty charge.
At the time of his release, he had not yet been formally cleared of wrongdoing, and the case remained an open legal matter for several months before prosecutors decided not to file charges.
Neither TMZ’s report nor other outlets covering the story have indicated that Big Tigger or his legal team issued a new public statement specifically addressing the declination to prosecute at the time it was reported.
However, the development marks a significant shift from where the case stood over the summer, when Big Tigger faced active criminal charges, a protective order, and mounting public scrutiny across entertainment and local news coverage in Atlanta.
What Alicia Brown Alleged in Her Original Petition
The allegations at the center of the case trace back to a May 9, 2026, argument between Big Tigger and Brown inside their home, reportedly sparked by a series of text messages between Big Tigger and a female co-worker.
According to the arrest warrant obtained by multiple outlets, the disagreement escalated when Brown began recording video of the confrontation on her phone, prompting a physical struggle over the device that ultimately left Brown with what the warrant described as a deep laceration above her left eye after she “stumbled and landed headfirst into a door.”
The wound reportedly required numerous stitches, and the warrant noted visible disfigurement remained a month later.
Court filings connected to a temporary protective order that Brown was later granted in June expanded on those claims, according to TMZ.
In her petition, Brown alleged that Big Tigger slammed her head into a door during the confrontation and that he subsequently pressured her not to speak publicly about what happened, allegedly warning that she would “lose everything” if she went forward with the allegations.
Brown also claimed that Big Tigger cut off her access to the family home’s Ring security cameras and remote gate controls after the incident.
A Fulton County judge granted Brown’s request for a temporary protective order in June, which required Big Tigger to stay at least 200 yards away from Brown and the couple’s children and barred him from having contact with them.
As part of that same order, Brown was awarded temporary custody of the couple’s minor children as well as exclusive use of the family home, while Big Tigger was ordered to surrender access to the home’s surveillance and gate systems.
The couple’s 13-year-old son was reportedly present in the home during the May incident, a detail that factored directly into the child cruelty charge Big Tigger was originally facing.
Big Tigger’s Response and the Fallout for His Career
From the earliest allegations, Big Tigger has consistently and firmly denied any wrongdoing. Speaking to TMZ after his June arrest, he said, “For the past 30+ years, I have built my life around relationships and community. Those who know me know the man, father, husband, and friend I have been throughout my life.”
In an earlier social media statement posted before his arrest, he was even more direct in disputing the claims circulating about him, saying, “I want to say categorically that these allegations and accusations that have been circulating are false,” and asking the public for “grace, privacy, and restraint” as his family worked through what he called a difficult moment.
In a subsequent statement posted to Instagram after his arrest, Big Tigger reiterated his position while acknowledging the limits on what he could say publicly given the active legal case.
“I unequivocally deny every allegation that has been made against me,” he wrote, adding, “What I can say is that I have complete confidence in the facts and in the legal process. I will continue to cooperate fully and trust that the truth will come to light.”
He closed the statement by thanking supporters, saying his family was “deeply grateful” for the encouragement they had received.
The case’s fallout extended well beyond the courtroom. In early July, Big Tigger announced he was stepping away from his longtime morning show on Atlanta’s V-103, a role he had held since 2020, citing what he described as “overwhelming speculation and misinformation” surrounding his personal life.
He specifically pointed to being separated from his son as the hardest part of the situation, writing that his focus throughout his career had always been on spotlighting the culture and people he covered, not becoming the story himself.
The case also grew more complicated in the weeks that followed, as Brown was later arrested on kidnapping warrants in early July, and a V-103 co-host, Francesca Amiker, filed a federal defamation lawsuit against Brown over social media posts Amiker said falsely implied she was involved in an affair with Big Tigger.
With prosecutors now confirming they will not pursue criminal charges tied to the original May incident, the case moves into a new phase, even as several related legal threads, including the defamation lawsuit and any remaining custody matters, appear unresolved.
For Big Tigger, a broadcaster who spent more than two decades building a reputation across BET and Atlanta radio, the decision removes one of the most serious legal threats he has faced this year, though the personal and professional toll of the past several months is likely to linger well beyond the prosecutor’s final decision.
