Zendaya and Tom Holland gave fans exactly the kind of moment they live for during their ongoing press tour for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, sharing a subtle but unmistakably sweet display of affection during a sit-down interview that quickly made its way around social media.

The clip, posted from an interview with SensaCine México on Friday, July 24, captured the couple reacting warmly after being praised for their chemistry as collaborators, and it did not take long for fans to zero in on exactly what was sparkling on Zendaya’s hand.

The moment came courtesy of journalist Cristina Ibáñez, who complimented the pair directly during the sit-down. “I admire you both as co-workers. Everybody knows you as a couple or as individuals, but I think that you are amazing co-workers,” Ibáñez told them. Zendaya and Holland responded with a simple, heartfelt “thank you,” and it was what happened immediately after that caught everyone’s attention.

Zendaya reached over and placed her hand, adorned with her sparkling engagement ring, over Holland’s, giving him an affectionate squeeze before the two shared a brief, warm smile with each other on camera.

The clip spread quickly once it was posted, with fans zooming in not just on the sweetness of the gesture but on the ring catching the light as she made it.

Their First Joint Interview Together In Years

According to reporting from the film’s press tour coverage, the SensaCine México sit-down marked the couple’s first joint interview together since 2021, making the small gesture feel especially notable to longtime fans who have followed their relationship since it first became public.

That same week, Zendaya and Holland also appeared together in a clip posted to the film’s official Instagram account, filmed during a stop on their Brand New Day press tour.

In that clip, Zendaya, wearing a burgundy Victoria Beckham bodycon dress, wrapped her arm around Holland as he updated fans on their travels, at one point joking that their next destination might have something to do with his own name, a playful hint that turned out to point toward Amsterdam.

The Mexico City leg of their travels brought its own memorable moment just a few days earlier, on July 20, when the couple attended a Spider-Man: Brand New Day fan event alongside director Destin Daniel Cretton at Aztlan Feria de Chapultepec, an amusement park in the city.

While Cretton described a specific scene from the film with Holland and Zendaya standing on either side of him, a fan in attendance captured video of the couple exchanging playful air kisses during the appearance, with the amusement park’s Ferris wheel lit up in Spider-Man red behind them.

That candid clip circulated widely online in the days leading up to the SensaCine interview, adding to what has already been an especially affectionate stretch of their joint promotional schedule, one that has taken them from Madrid to Amsterdam to Mexico City in the span of just a few weeks.

A Marriage Holland Has Only Recently Confirmed

The renewed attention to Zendaya’s ring comes not long after Holland confirmed, in his own understated way, that the two have already gotten married.

Speaking to Esquire U.K. for a cover story published June 16, Holland was asked whether he’d had to inform family members about AI-generated images that had circulated online, falsely appearing to show him and Zendaya at their wedding.

His response left little room for ambiguity about the actual event. “No, because they were all there,” Holland said, confirming that a real ceremony had, in fact, already taken place. When pressed further on the details, Holland kept things characteristically brief, adding, “That’s all you’ll get on that.”

Holland has continued to casually reference Zendaya as his wife in the weeks since that interview, including during a red carpet appearance at the Brand New Day premiere in Rome, Italy, where he called out to her using her middle name, Maree, rather than her usual stage name.

The couple’s romance dates back to 2017, when they first met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, though they did not confirm the relationship publicly until 2021.

PEOPLE confirmed their engagement in January 2025, and Zendaya first showed off her ring publicly at that year’s Golden Globe Awards.

Brand New Day, which hits theaters July 31, marks their fourth Spider-Man film together as a real-life couple portraying Peter Parker and MJ, and the pair have made clear throughout this press cycle that their off-screen chemistry remains very much intact.

A Packed Year Of Press Tours And Shared Projects

Zendaya and Holland’s schedule this summer has been unusually packed even by their standards, with the two working through overlapping press tours for two separate films at once.

Just days before their Mexico City appearance, the couple’s other joint project, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, hit theaters worldwide, giving them back-to-back promotional obligations that have kept them traveling together almost continuously.

Zendaya has spoken previously about how comfortable she feels acting alongside Holland, telling Vanity Fair in a 2024 interview that working with him never feels awkward. “It’s actually strangely comfortable,” she said. “It’s like second nature, if anything. You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside. I love working with him. He’s so talented, and so passionate about what he does.”

That same sense of partnership has carried over into how Zendaya talks about Holland’s role in the Spider-Man franchise more broadly.

She has previously stated plainly that she has no interest in continuing on with the series without him, telling one interviewer, “It’s a package deal,” when asked whether she would consider staying on if Holland ever chose to step away from the role.

Between that kind of public loyalty and the steady stream of small, affectionate moments surfacing throughout this press tour, from air kisses in Mexico City to a gentle hand squeeze in front of a camera crew, Zendaya and Holland have made clear that their real-life partnership remains just as central to this chapter of their careers as the on-screen one audiences will see when Brand New Day arrives in theaters at the end of the month.

Brand New Day itself has been billed as an emotionally heavier installment than previous entries in the franchise, with Zendaya, Holland, and co-star Jacob Batalon all speaking to how the film’s ending affected them personally during recent press appearances.

Zendaya has described crying multiple times while filming certain sequences, and the trio has spoken about how growing up together across four Spider-Man films has shaped their real off-screen bond.

That shared history adds another layer to why this particular press tour has felt different from previous ones, with Holland and Zendaya now promoting the film not just as co-stars who met on set nearly a decade ago, but as a married couple navigating that same spotlight together, ring and all.

Between the film’s release on July 31 and the steady run of affectionate, camera-ready moments leading up to it, this stretch of press has given fans plenty to hold onto well before the movie itself even hits theaters.
