Hailey Bieber Celebrates 8 Years Since Justin Bieber’s Proposal With a Sweet, Simple Instagram Tribute

Hailey Bieber is once again proving that some of the biggest declarations of love need only a handful of words. On Tuesday, July 7, the Rhode founder took to her Instagram Stories to mark eight years since her husband, Justin Bieber, got down on one knee, sharing a black-and-white photo of the two of them locked in a kiss.

She kept the caption short and sweet, writing simply, “8 years” alongside two ring emojis. It was a quiet nod to a relationship that has now stretched across a friendship, a breakup, a reunion, two weddings, and a baby boy, proving once again that Hailey does not need a paragraph to make a moment land.

The anniversary being celebrated dates back to July 7, 2018, when Justin proposed to Hailey during a trip to the Bahamas, just weeks after the two had rekindled their relationship following a 2016 split.

Justin marked the milestone with a lengthy, emotional Instagram post that fans still reference today. “Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you,” he wrote. “So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindLY.”

He continued with a promise that set the tone for the family life the two would eventually build together, adding, “I promise to lead our family with honor and integrity letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make.”

He closed out the announcement with a declaration that left little room for doubt about how he felt in that moment, writing, “My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first! You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn’t want to spend it with anybody else.”

What makes the timeline especially interesting is just how quickly things moved once Justin and Hailey found their way back to each other.

The two had known one another for years, but their reunion in June 2018 led to an engagement just one month later, a turnaround that surprised many onlookers at the time but apparently felt inevitable to Hailey herself.

She has since opened up about why she never doubted where things were headed, even during the rocky stretch before they got back together. “He was the first person I ever had real feelings for,” Hailey has said of their history.

“When things kind of went south for a little bit and we went our separate ways, I just knew that no matter what the outcome was going to be, he was going to be somebody that I loved for the rest of my life. No matter what, he was always going to hold a special place in my heart.”

That kind of certainty tends to explain why a whirlwind engagement turned into a marriage that has now lasted the better part of a decade.

The Biebers did not wait long to make things official once the engagement was announced. Just two months later, in September 2018, the couple got married in a private civil ceremony at a courthouse in lower Manhattan, with Hailey opting for an all-white ensemble for the low-key affair.

It was a notably understated way to legally tie the knot for two people who were already among the most photographed young couples in the world, and it set the stage for a much bigger celebration to follow.

That larger, more traditional wedding took place on September 30, 2019, when the couple hosted friends and family for a ceremony in South Carolina that gave fans the fuller fairy-tale moment they had been waiting for.

Hailey did not hold back on the fashion front for that second celebration, wearing three custom looks throughout the day.

Her primary bridal gown came from the late Virgil Abloh, designed specifically for the occasion under his Off-White label, and she paired it with a long veil embroidered with the phrase “Till Death Do Us Part.”

The detail has become one of the most talked-about elements of the wedding in the years since, a small but meaningful touch that fans still bring up whenever the Biebers’ love story comes back into the spotlight.

Justin, for his part, has described what building a life with Hailey has meant to him in the years since their wedding.

Speaking on his docuseries Seasons, he shared that getting “to share my life with [Hailey] just makes it so much more rewarding,” a sentiment that has only grown more resonant as the two have added new chapters to their story.

One of the biggest of those new chapters arrived in August 2024, when Justin and Hailey welcomed their son, Jack Blues Bieber. The couple has largely kept their son out of the spotlight since his birth, offering only occasional glimpses of family life rather than a steady stream of updates.

Even so, Hailey has not been shy about praising her husband’s role as a father when the moment calls for it. On Father’s Day this year, she publicly described Justin as the “best daddy,” a small but telling comment that gave fans another warm look into how the couple operates behind closed doors.

Between the wedding, the marriage, and now parenthood, the two have built a life that looks remarkably steady given how much attention has followed them since their earliest days as a couple.

A Pattern of Public Support, Even Amid Constant Speculation

This latest anniversary tribute did not arrive in isolation. Just days before Hailey posted her engagement anniversary photo, she was busy celebrating Justin’s newest project, his 2026 live album titled SWAG LIVE FROM COACHELLA (WEEKEND 2).

Hailey shared a close-up image from his Coachella performance on her Instagram, keeping her caption just as brief as her later anniversary post by writing only, “Yum.”

It was a small gesture, but one that fits a pattern the couple has leaned on for years now, publicly cheering each other on through career milestones and personal ones alike, regardless of the near-constant chatter online about the state of their marriage.

That chatter has followed the Biebers for much of their relationship, with fans and outlets alike frequently speculating about their dynamic during quieter stretches between public appearances.

Despite that, the couple has continued to show up for each other in these small, visible ways, whether that means Justin marking a wedding anniversary with a one-line tribute reading “Happy anniversary bb,” or Hailey turning up to support his music the same week she is celebrating the anniversary of his proposal.

Neither post requires much explanation, and that appears to be exactly the point. After eight years, a breakup, two ceremonies, and a son together, the Biebers do not seem interested in performing their relationship for anyone watching.

They simply keep showing up for each other, one understated Instagram Story at a time, and let the decade of history speak for itself.

Looking back at how quickly this all began- a monthlong reunion turning into an engagement, and an engagement turning into two ceremonies, a family, and now eight years of milestones- it is easy to see why Hailey’s caption needed nothing more than two words and a pair of ring emojis.

Some love stories grow with every passing year, and the Biebers seem perfectly content to let theirs speak through the quiet moments rather than the loud ones.
