Bailey Zimmerman is speaking out after facing serious criminal charges tied to an alleged hotel room rampage in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that reportedly caused more than $16,000 in damage.
The country singer is now up against felony and misdemeanor criminal charges following an incident at Sandia Resort and Casino on May 27, 2026. The rising star, known for his hit “Rock and a Hard Place,” had been in town to perform a concert that ultimately never happened.
His legal troubles have cast a shadow over what has otherwise been a breakout stretch in his career, and the public is now watching closely to see how things unfold.
In a statement, Zimmerman wrote:
“To the Pueblo of Sandia and my fans: I want to address the events surrounding my canceled show in New Mexico in May and the reports that have followed. First things first, I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort and Casino. I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.”
He added that he is “reflecting on the disappointment and concern” he caused and confirmed he is “taking this legal matter seriously,” pledging to “do the work necessary to learn and grow.”
What the Charges Say

According to a court filing dated June 18, prosecutors filed an arrest warrant against Zimmerman stemming from the May 27 incident. He was hit with a felony charge for criminal damage to property over $1,000 and a misdemeanor charge of falsely obtaining services in New Mexico.
The legal filings paint a troubling picture of what allegedly unfolded behind the scenes that evening. According to legal documents, the singer allegedly trashed his hotel room before canceling his concert in Albuquerque that night and was later removed from the resort where he had been staying.
The following morning, on May 28, housekeeping found the room in severe disrepair, with damage totaling more than $16,000. The destruction reportedly included a broken phone, a damaged television, damaged chairs and a coffee table, two missing chairs, and a hole in the wall.
Staff also reported stains on the carpet and damage to multiple walls throughout the room. The resort further alleged that Zimmerman charged over $400 worth of alcohol to his room without settling the tab before leaving.
The Soundcheck Meltdown That Started It All
Before the hotel damage was discovered, eyewitness accounts from the venue described a chaotic scene during soundcheck that same evening. According to those present, Zimmerman reportedly swung a guitar and struck the ground, threw cymbals, knocked over drums and microphones, and walked off stage multiple times.
The situation reportedly became increasingly volatile as the evening went on. After he returned for a third time, his band attempted to intervene, but Zimmerman yelled at them and walked off stage again. He was seen swaying and angrily gesturing as he spoke with his tour manager near the stage exit.
After nearly a minute of conversation, he walked back on stage, kicked the drum cymbals over, and shoved one of his guitarists, causing the musician to jolt forward.
The concert was ultimately canceled that night. At the time of the cancellation, Zimmerman publicly attributed the decision to an undisclosed illness. No mention was made of the backstage incident or the condition his hotel room would be found in the next morning.
Both hotel staff and police reportedly attempted to contact the singer and his team in the aftermath, but received no response, which ultimately led to the arrest warrant being issued against him.
A Pattern That Raises Concerns
This is not the first time Zimmerman’s relationship with alcohol has come under public scrutiny. In January 2025, the singer issued an apology to fans after he performed drunk at the Crash My Playa music festival, saying in a video: “I got up on stage, and I was too drunk to play. And I sang awful, I played awful.”
That incident drew attention at the time but was largely absorbed as a one-off mistake that many artists have made over the years. The New Mexico situation, however, has significantly escalated the conversation around his behavior, given that criminal charges are now involved.
Zimmerman has now had multiple instances where alcohol has either disrupted or outright canceled a show. The pattern is becoming difficult to overlook, particularly for an artist who has built considerable momentum in a short period of time.
Fans and industry observers are increasingly calling on the singer to seek support before the situation causes further damage to his legal standing and career.
What Comes Next for Zimmerman

It remains unclear whether Zimmerman plans to surrender to police in response to the active arrest warrant currently out for him. His legal team has not made any additional public statements beyond the apology that was issued on his behalf.
The charges he is facing carry serious consequences, and the outcome of the case will depend heavily on how prosecutors in Bernalillo County proceed in the coming weeks.
Zimmerman’s next scheduled performance is June 25 at the Country Drive Music Festival in Ashland, Nebraska. Whether he takes the stage as planned or faces further legal developments before then remains to be seen.
What is clear is that the country singer is at a critical crossroads, and the choices he makes in the near future will go a long way in determining both his public standing and the direction of his career.
