Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO Divorce Turns Into High-Stakes Property Split as Homes, Royalties, and $20M Fortune Come Into Focus

The divorce between country-rap star Jelly Roll and his wife of nearly a decade, Bunnie XO, is moving faster than most people expected and not in a chaotic way. Sources with direct knowledge of the situation say the split has been progressing smoothly behind the scenes, with both sides focused on ensuring each person walks away with what they deserve.

What started as a quietly filed court document in May has now become one of the most talked-about celebrity divorces of the year, largely because of what is reportedly on the table financially. The couple built a significant combined fortune during their marriage, and how they divide it is the question everyone is watching.

Jelly Roll, whose legal name is Jason Bradley DeFord, listed the date of separation as May 9, 2026, and filed his divorce petition on May 18, just nine days later.

The filing was submitted in Williamson County, Tennessee, by his attorney Rose Palermo, who previously represented Kristin Cavallari in her divorce from Jay Cutler. Bunnie XO’s legal name is Alisa Andrea Carter, and the couple had been married since August 30, 2016, nearly ten years before the split.

What the Court Documents Actually Say About the Assets

The divorce filings submitted by Jelly Roll on May 18 propose a Marital Dissolution Agreement that provides for an equitable division of the parties’ assets and apportions responsibility for payment of their debts.

The language in the documents suggests he is approaching this as a straightforward, uncontested process rather than a courtroom battle. He also requested in the complaint that Bunnie XO not be required to file a formal response typically expected in a contested divorce, a move that suggests the couple may have already settled on key terms behind closed doors.

The filings cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and note that the parties have acquired certain real and personal property and incurred marital debts during the marriage. There is no publicly confirmed prenuptial agreement, which is a detail that legal analysts say matters enormously in a case like this.

Tennessee is an equitable-distribution state, meaning marital property is divided fairly but not necessarily equally, with courts considering factors including the length of the marriage, each spouse’s contributions, and earning capacity.

One Home Is Already Reportedly Going to Bunnie XO

Sources say Bunnie XO is already walking away with at least one of the couple’s homes as part of the asset division, and that the former couple has already been living separately and moved into their own residences following the split.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie own several properties in the Nashville area, and people close to them say the estate they once shared could eventually be sold as part of the settlement process. A moving truck was photographed outside their Tennessee home on June 15, the same day TMZ broke the news of the divorce to the public.

It is important to note that while the property reporting is consistent across multiple outlets, no final court-confirmed asset division has been publicly released. Sources describe the process as amicable so far, with no major disputes over money or property emerging on either side.

That picture could, of course, change if the two sides fail to reach a formal agreement and the matter moves toward litigation.

The $20 Million Question Lawyers Are Paying Attention To

Jelly Roll has a reported net worth of approximately $20 million, while Bunnie XO is estimated at around $7 million. Those numbers have drawn significant attention from legal commentators, even those not involved in the case.

Divorce attorney Isaiah Vallejo-Juste, who does not represent either party, told Page Six that both parties have possible exposure when it comes to the division of assets and that if there is disagreement over how to divide things, the divorce can get messy.

One of the more complex financial questions concerns Jelly Roll’s music-career assets. Vallejo-Juste explained that without a prenuptial agreement, royalties, intellectual property, and publishing rights acquired during the marriage could be considered marital property, potentially subject to valuation.

Bunnie XO’s role in supporting and building her husband’s career during their marriage is also a factor that legal experts say courts can consider. When asked whether that kind of career contribution could affect a financial settlement, the attorney confirmed that it can.

Where Things Stand Now

The couple does not share any biological children together, which, under Tennessee law, removes the most contested elements of custody and child support from the proceedings entirely. Because no minor children are involved, the shorter 60-day waiting period likely applies, meaning the process could be finalized relatively quickly if both parties maintain their current cooperative posture.

Jelly Roll was notably seen without his wedding ring at the 2026 GRAMMYs, where he took home his first three Grammy Awards, as well as at the CMA Fest on June 6 appearances that, in hindsight, now carry a different kind of weight.

The couple first met in 2015 at one of his Las Vegas shows, married in 2016, and spent years building both a public profile and a private estate together. How that estate is ultimately divided remains to be seen, but for now, the early signs point to a settlement process that is more of a quiet negotiation than a public courtroom drama.
